Jon Goddard is Head of the Press and Public Affairs Section at the British Embassy in Muscat. Following previous careers in the Home Office and as an IT Consultant, Jon joined the Diplomatic Service in 1997.

He started in the Overseas Territories Department covering some of the world’s most remote inhabited islands, before taking up an overseas posting in Nepal. More recently he spent some time learning Arabic in Jordan before joining the staff of the British Embassy in Amman. He moved to Muscat in April 2008 and is already enjoying the opportunity to explore the land and sea of Oman.

Jon enjoys playing and following football, although his home town team, Southampton, have had mixed fortunes in recent years. Jon has travelled extensively in Europe, the Middle East, Asia and Africa.
